This was one of my first paintings on oil-primed French linen, and it became an early step toward a more expressive, intuitive way of working.
 
The linen changed something for me. I began allowing more of the surface to breathe, letting marks stay loose and imperfect rather than resolving every passage. The white bird emerged almost like a piece of light inside the darker water, surrounded by reflections, foliage and color that feel more remembered than described.
 
There is a freedom in this piece that I was only beginning to understand at the time, and it became an important bridge into the looser work I am making now.

This original artwork is shipped rolled to ensure safe delivery. Stretching and framing can be coordinated upon request for an additional cost.
 
I like showing the raw version of the artwork on the wall, and a mock-up of how I may frame it.
