The kraft paper is taped down (a little crooked), the floor’s speckled with paint, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. This is where the work lives before it’s “done”—where color spills, brushes pile up, and light filters through the curtains just right.

It’s not polished; it’s alive. Every mark, every layer, tells the story of this season—messy, beautiful, becoming.

Talking about this 36x36 oil painting I’m working on of birds, flowers, and a lot of energy layered through. The layering of light is what takes the longest so that certain objects glow in the moonlight.

The effect of illumination through oil is why I paint with oil. You cannot get that with acrylic paint and I have to add the light through my work or it lacks my emotionally energy with it. A painting to me is a living object, layered in story, symbolism and expression… and should allow my viewers eyes to wander throughout finding surprises along the way.
